Analysis of Wear of Support Pads of CNC Roll Grinder
CNC roll grinder is the supporting equipment of the hot rolling mill. The roll grinder adopts shoulder support positioning method. A support pad is installed on the bracket to support the roller for grinding. Its grinding accuracy and grinding efficiency directly affect the quality and efficiency of plate/coil production. When grinding a work roll of rough rolling mill with a heavy overall weight, if grinding with pillow, the total weight has reached the upper limit of the roll grinder's load-bearing capacity. According to the grinding efficiency of the roll grinder, it takes an average of 3~4 hours to grind a work roll of rough rolling mill. During the grinding process, due to the long grinding cycle, heavy roll weight, as well as open oil lubrication mode, the sliding contact of the support pad on the bracket caused high temperature and melted, making it impossible to grinding work rolls of rough rolling mill.
Therefore, we can only consider grinding the work roll without pillow. The front and rear brackets of the CNC roll grinder are used to support the roll necks on both sides during roll for grinding. Babbitt alloy materials are installed on the front and rear brackets supporting pad of the CNC roll grinder. The support pad is in contact with the roll grinder. Due to the asymmetric structure of the work roll, and the lack of supporting, causing the front supporting pad to receive greater gravity than the rear one. , the uneven force causes uneven wear of the supporting pads on the front and rear brackets. At the same time, the abnormal wear affects the grinding accuracy of the rolls, making the work roll unable to meet accuracy requirements such as curve accuracy, roundness accuracy, and coaxiality accuracy etc, and finally cause the unstable producing of rolling mill.
