The hydrogen obtained by electrolysis of water has high purity and is the most promising way to provide green hydrogen energy in the future.

In recent years, hydrogen energy is gradually becoming one of the important energy carriers for global low-carbon development, and the application field of hydrogen energy is gradually expanding to electric power, transportation, buildings and other scenarios. The continuous upgrading of hydrogen production technology is the basis for the continuous expansion of hydrogen energy application market, according to the different sources of raw materials, hydrogen production technology can be divided into four categories: hydrogen production from fossil raw materials, hydrogen production from chemical raw materials, hydrogen production from industrial tail gas, and hydrogen production from electrolyzed water. Among them, electrolysis of water to hydrogen is the cleanest way to produce hydrogen, electrolysis of water to hydrogen refers to the introduction of direct current in an electrolytic cell filled with electrolyte, water molecules on the electrode electrochemical reaction, so as to decompose into hydrogen and oxygen hydrogen production mode. The hydrogen obtained by electrolysis of water has high purity and is the most promising way to provide green hydrogen energy in the future.

At present, fossil fuel energy is the main hydrogen production method in the market, under the energy structure of rich coal, poor oil and less gas in China, domestic hydrogen energy mainly comes from coal hydrogen production, accounting for about 65% of hydrogen production capacity, while electrolyzed water hydrogen production is limited by higher costs, accounting for less than 3%. In the future, the hydrogen production industry of electrolyzed water can not only reduce the energy consumption of the electrolysis process by developing PEM and SOEC technologies, but also rely on photovoltaic and wind power to develop low-cost hydrogen production.
