Processing process of rolling mill rolls
The processing process of the roller can be roughly divided into the following stages:
1. Design and material selection: Select appropriate materials according to the specific requirements and working
environment of the rolling mill. Roller materials usually need to have good wear resistance, pressure resistance and
thermal stability.
2. Casting or forging: According to the selected material, the roller is made by casting or forging technology. Casting
technology includes one-piece casting, overflow casting and centrifugal casting. One-piece casting is the most
basic casting method, but the core toughness is low; overflow casting improves the core toughness through two
pourings; centrifugal casting improves the metal liquid recovery rate through vertical or horizontal pouring.
3. Heat treatment: In order to improve the hardness and wear resistance of the roller, a heat treatment process is
required, including quenching, tempering and other steps.
4. Machining: After heat treatment, the roller is machined by lathe processing, grinding and other machining to
ensure its size and shape accuracy.
5. Surface treatment: In order to improve the service life and performance of the roller, surface treatment such as
shot peening, coating treatment, etc. can be performed.
6. Quality inspection: Finally, the finished roller is strictly inspected to ensure that it meets the design requirements
and performance indicators.
Through the above steps, the mill roller that meets the requirements can be manufactured to ensure that it shows
good performance and durability during the rolling process.
