The most common hydrogen production methods
With the continuous progress of science and technology, China's hydrogen fuel cell infrastructure has basically entered an accelerated period, and there are more and more hydrogen production methods. Among them, the more common hydrogen production methods include industrial by-product hydrogen production, water electrolysis hydrogen production, Methanol reforming hydrogen production and fossil fuel hydrogen production.
1. Hydrogen production from fossil fuels
Fossil fuel hydrogen production is a traditional hydrogen generating method and an ancient hydrogen production process. However, it still relies on fossil fuels and will emit greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide. The fossil fuel commonly used for hydrogen production is natural gas. China's natural gas is extremely scarce, the utilization rate of raw materials is low, and the production process is complex and difficult. Natural gas hydrogen production sites are also heavily influenced by natural gas supply.
2. Methanol reforming hydrogen production method
The methanol steam reforming hydrogen production method is a hydrogen production technology developed abroad in the 1980s. It has low investment, fast construction, no emissions and no pollution, and high availability of raw materials. So far, the hydrogen production process at domestic and abroad is very mature. The highly integrated technology and fuel cell power generation technology have been successfully applied in new energy vehicles, communication stations and other fields, and the application prospects are very good.
3. Hydrogen production from industrial by-products
Coke oven gas is a process of hydrogen production by pressure swing adsorption process. Pure hydrogen is extracted from coke oven gas, a by-product of the coking industry. The basic principle is to use a solid adsorbent to selectively adsorb the gas, and the gas adsorbs on the adsorbent. The reduction of pressure reduces the characteristics of gas mixing separation and adsorbent regeneration, and achieves the purpose of purifying hydrogen production.
4. water electrolysis hydrogen generating method
Hydrogen can also be obtained by traditional electrolysis of water. Water electrolysis hydrogen production technology at domestic and abroad is relatively mature, with high efficiency and simple hydrogen production process.
The above are several more common hydrogen production methods. Each method has its own advantages and disadvantages. As for which method to choose, it still needs to depend on the actual situation.
