What is hydrogen production by electrolysis of water?
When direct current is applied to some electrolyte solutions, the dissolved components are irrelevant to the original electrolyte. The dissolved water is used as the organic solvent, and the original electrolyte remains in the water. For example, hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide solution, and ferric chloride solution are all such electrolytes.
When water is electrolyzed to produce hydrogen, pure water is a very typical weak electrolyte, due to its low degree of ionization and low conductivity. Therefore, the above electrolyte must be added to increase the conductivity of the saturated solution so that water can be successfully electrolyzed into hydrogen and oxygen.
Solid polymer electrolytes, SPE electrolyzed water, were originally used to give O2 to space shuttles or submarines, or as hydrogen generators in laboratories (can be used in gas chromatographs). After the large-scale development trend of nuclear power plants, everyone uses SPE technical electrolysis of water to produce hydrogen in the low power consumption period, and SPE hydrogen-oxygen fuel cells are used in the peak power distribution period to become energy storage technology conversion equipment.
In recent years, the development trend of renewable energy electrolysis of water for hydrogen production is rapid in the world today. Many countries in my country have gradually set up development plans for hydrogen energy in the fields of industrial production, engineering construction, and power engineering outside the transportation industry. The specific research and future prospects in this paper are the technicality of electrolysis of water to produce green hydrogen.
Generally speaking, the characteristics of hydrogen production by electrolysis of water using renewable energy are that it can efficiently digest and absorb waste wind power generation and concentrating, and reduce the cost of hydrogen production; the energy conversion efficiency of electricity conversion into hydrogen is relatively high (60% ~80%); the use of renewable energy power generation to produce hydrogen by electrolysis of water is a low-carbon and environmentally friendly whole process. Unbalanced differences in the development trend of green energy have become increasingly prominent, especially the issue of green energy trading, which has severely limited the mental and physical health and sustainable development of power companies.
